For emphasis or dramatic effect, the subject and auxiliary verb can be inverted when negative adverbials are placed at the beginning of the sentence. As most of you probably already know , this is a C1-level grammatical structure that is only introduced at the B2 level with phrases such as "little did I know" , etc.
